The Neo Nook started as a nursery in 2023. However, Caregivers of Petrolia Ferals have provided neonatal care for some time. Caregivers of Petrolia Ferals and foster Amanda A decided to take her fostering to the next level.

What is a Neo-natal Kitten?

Neo-natal kittens are anywhere from 0 days old to 4 weeks old. This is the age when kittens are solely dependent on their mother for heat, feeding, and even going to the bathroom. Unfortunately, when the mother cat cannot care for her babies or is separated too early, human intervention must occur for the kittens' survival. These kittens require round-the-clock care until they can be successfully weaned off kitten milk.

Did you know kittens ages 0-1 week old are required to be fed every 2 hours. That's 12 times a day! That's why it is so important to have top of the line equitment to ensure the most vunrable recive the care they deserve!

A Message From The Neo Nook Foster

I get these little beans when they are days, hours, minutes old. Sometimes I am the first feed, sometimes I'm the one caring for these little beans from 0-8 weeks old. I want our followers to see where some of their donations are going, I want to educate people, our community on the importance of fixing your animals.

2023 was a tough season, with the highest number of neo-natal kittens that have come through my doors. I wanted to be more prepared for 2024. I decided to raise the money for a state of the art incubator. This incubator will be able to save so many more lives. I can administer medication through the nebulizer port or I can administer oxygen safely through the oxygen port. I can monitor temps and humidity to ensure the little beans continue to thrive. It doesn't always work out (this is the absolutely heartbreaking when I lose one) but we provide round the clock care, feeds every 2 hours, administer meds and regular vet checks if needed through donations and fundraisers, and much much more.

Our main focus are neo natal kittens but we will step in if medical treatment is needed on older kittens/cats.
